Steps on How to Come Out | ||||||||||||||||||||
It may seem difficult at first, not knowing how your family or friends will react, but in the end, if they are truly good people things will work out okay. Take for example the tale of Chasity Bono and her mother Cher: in the end things went well for both of them. The First thing you should do is start by telling your friends. It may seem hard at first but if they are truly your friends, then chances are they suspect already. When I told my friends, most of them said they already knew and it wasn't a shock to them. A lot of homosexuals that I have talked to have said the same thing. If they don't approve, then you have to remember that they arent't the people you want around you. The next step would be to tell your family. This is the hardest part. Most families won't accept it at first, and they will blame themselves. You have to remember they weren't born into this like we were, it will take some getting used to. If your parents are, however, supportive of gay rights or the gay community then it shouldn't be a problem. If your family doesn't support you, then there are a few ways to handle this. Number one: tell them about PFLAG (an organization for Parents and Friends of Lesbians And Gays), maybe a support group could help them with this. If that doesn't work, you could always wait it out, eventually, they will accept you back into their life. Things won't always look bleak. After telling your family and friends, anything else should be a piece of cake. However, if you're still having problems and need some advice on this email me ([email protected]) or Rachel ([email protected]) and we will help you. | ||||||||||||||||||||
